MERRY CHRISTMAS NEWS

Merry Christmas to all our clients and readers and I hope that everyone will continue to keep the Christ in Christmas and not be influenced by the "politically correct" manner of not offending anyone who does not celebrate Christmas. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and celebrations without trying to change traditions.
The town is bright with hanging decorations over the downtown streets, and today is the last day of the 12 day celebration of the Virgen de Guadalupe, with parades of devoted pilgrims marching with their candles and offerings to our famous crowned church. Church Bells are ringing all day and night and fireworks light up the sky on the beautiful cool evenings.

The plaza was filled with vendors and the streets with local tasty snacks. Aztec dancers, mariachi, floats with precious children dressed as the Virgen of Guadalupe and Juan Diego filled the streets of the historic center.

The Vallarta Chamber Orchestra will present it´s Christmas Concert Sunday, Dec. 14 at the American School (Colegio Americano) across from the Plaza Marina shopping center. For information call Mary MacLachlan at 322-134-8855. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going for the maintenance of the orchestra. The orchestra will be led by Nick Salmans and consists of 20 talented musicians from Mexico, the U.S., Canada, Cuba and England. Don´t miss it.

The 5th Puerto Vallarta Film Festival started on Dec. 10 through the 14th and offers many outstanding films, at Cinemark Theaters in Plaza Caracol, titles listed in the Vallarta Tribune. Local jewelry artist June Rosen will host her annual Christmas party and sale on Sun. Dec. 14 from 2 to 8 p.m. June´s unique creations have been
popular here for many years and she also divides her time between New York Location is Francisco Rodriguez 200 corner of Pino Suarez.

Loads of holiday parties and posadas going on--great offerings at the many restaurants and lots of sales in the boutiques and stores around town as everyone awaits the end of the "financial crisis".

Beautiful Christmas cards (blank inside to put your own greeting) have just arrived at Galeria Vallarta, benefiting Los Pequeños Hermanos orphanage in Cuernavaca and Mexico City. They also have produced an impressive art calendar for 2009 featuring various artists, which is at Galeria Vallarta along with imaginative gifts and special on many artworks.


ART AND CULTURAL EVENTS

The Old Town Art Walk continue with great crowds and the next one will be on Wed. Dec. 17th. The last one of Dec. will be held on Friday, Dec. 26, due to Christmas, and the next one on Friday, Jan. 2, 6-10 p.m. Galeria Vallarta will present the annual Christmas Jewelry and Sculpture Show with participation by many local and international jewelry artists bringing their unique creations.

Featured will be our special NDO Lozano with his bronze necklace belts, earrings and rings handmade using a torch. He has some new exciting designs, as well as mirrors, frames and earring holders. Ideal gifts. Also we have a selection of silver set with natural stones from Fabio Rizzo of Italy, who has his taller in Taxco, as well as intricate silverwork by Stefano Dimalto. Hans Casanova from Chile has some chunky dramatic designs in turquoise and silver. Cervantes brings one of a kind intricate silver broches and bracelets from Guadalajara.
