Donations are to be made at Hospital San Javier, Second Floor, Blood Bank. They take donations from 8am until 6pm, Monday through Saturday.
Age limit is 60 to 62 years old max.
Age limit is 18 years old minimimum.
Fasting for at least 10 hours prior to donation.
Disqualifications:
* Gay Men
* Underweight
* Previous history of Hepatitis
* Recent blood transfusion
* No alcohol X 24 hours.
* Certain medications including diabetic meds, blood thinners, some cardiac medications, certain hormones.
* Pregnant.
Once you arrive, they will ask you confidential questions. If you "pass" then they will take a blood sample and run it through the centrifuge to see if you are anemic. If you are accepted, the donation process takes about 45 minutes tops and you will rest afterwards and be given juice-cookies.
You might feel a bit light-headed afterwards. Drink lots of water and eat foods high in iron.
Be sure and tell the Blood Bank the name of the person you are donating for.
All blood types are needed.
