Philo here.
What an exciting week ahead. Tomorrow Barack Obama takes office. Great expectations follow our young president into that esteemed position. He needs our help and prayers. So tomorrow let the champagne flow and then, the day after, get ready to pitch in and help make our world a better place. Help make "yes we can" more than an empty slogan.
Speaking of the inauguration, tomorrow starting at 9 am, we here at Philo's will be in serious celebration mode. Come by and join in. The parade starts at 9:30 am and the swearing in of the president starts at 11:56 central/Jalisco time. All of Philo's TVs will be tuned on to the event, and with free champagne for all who attend, we will toast to the success of Barack's presidency.
The tallies are in. Money from the Christmas play that was donated to the Friendship Club, by the La Cruz Marina, came to more than 10,000 pesos. As most of you know, the Friendship Club helps children with medical expenses. This money will go a long way in helping buy medicine and paying other medical related expenses. Thank you everyone who participated in our little adventure into the world of theater. And to all of you who attended our little soiree, thank you all very much as well.
And, the money we made at last weeks benefit for the La Cruz Senior Center came to over 18,000 pesos. The money we raised will go to the Senior Center for roof repairs. What another great evening. The students from the primary school folklorico dance group were awesome. They made over 2,600 pesos when they passed the hat. All of the money made from your generous tips will go toward buying new costumes so that they can include even more children in their spectacular little troupe. The kids are all from La Cruz and I am so proud of them.
A new Hatha Yoga class begins this week at Philo's. It will be every Wednesday and Friday at 9 am (PV time). Bring a mat. Donation requested.

Thursday: Philo and the Mexican Shuffle Band. Music starts at 8:30 pm.
Friday: Philo and the Mexican Shuffle Band. Music starts at 8:30 pm.
Saturday: Philo and the Mexican Shuffle Band. Music starts at 8:30 pm.
Sunday: Open on Sunday for the playofffs. Buddies in the Saddle Motor Cycle Club meets at Philo's at 9:30 am for our weekly breakfast ride.
