Leobardo Garza Castro is a native of Mexico City, which was also the city in which he completed his general education and also where he began his career in the hotel industry; and from an early age became interested in entering the complex field of hotel management.
As a young man, he interned for the Nacional Hotelera Corporation, there he had the opportunity to train in various departments within the hotel, while at the same time studying a second language. Due to destiny, he was able to obtain the support and tools to complete his professional studies in Austria, France, as well as a certification program in England.
Upon his return to Mexico, he was invited to head the Olympic Village during the Olympic games of 1968. He as played important roles in several hotel chains such as The Ritz, in Acapulco, Guerrero; The Sheraton, Grupo Posadas, Ancira in Monterrey; Calinda in Cancun and Plaza Las Glorias in Puerto Vallarta.
After having held several managerial positions at various hotel chains, in 1988, he decided to remain in Puerto Vallarta, well, as the story goes, he felt the waters of the Cuale River and he never wanted to leave; it was here where he married and raised his only daughter, Elizabeth.
He was the president of the Puerto Vallarta Hotel and Motel Association from 1992 through 1996, a post in which he played a key role in the promotion of the hotel industry in our city. He believes that Puerto Vallarta possesses a special magic and that is the reason for the warmth of its people and he enjoys welcoming the tourists and has a lifetime commitment to making this city a memorable visit.
Leobardo Garza experienced the birth of Velas Vallarta, as its first manager; he also worked alongside Ruben Millar at the Plaza Neptuno Restaurant. He then decided to retire after many years of work; he now enjoys his family and he sometimes works as a consultant to his peers.
